Welcome to my blog! My name is Toni and I am the owner of The Little British Fabric Shop.
I absolutely love to sew and will try my hand at making almost anything, but in the last year I have mostly been making and selling items such as bags, cushions and quilts - either by commission or at local craft fairs/in my Etsy shop.
In this blog I hope to share with you all some of my makes and projects along the way of my sewing journey. Let's start off with a few of my most recent makes - bags! And not forgetting my first ever Necessary Clutch Wallet.
I took a much needed break from sewing over the Christmas period so it was nice to return to the sewing machine last month with a head full of fresh ideas! (So many ideas!)
My first project was this Bucket Bag which I had been wanting to make for such a long time. I really love how this one turned out and I will definitely be making more! I think that the addition of rivets/grommets to a bag and other similar hardware always makes a bag look that much more finished and I love them in this bag. This was made from the fab Fairly Bucket Bag tutorial by Sew Mama Sew. The fabric is Norwegian Woods Too from Michael Miller.
Next up was this satchel/messenger bag which was my own design, made with fabric from the Eclectic Elements collection by Tim Holtz. I had originally intended for it to have a sticky-out type zippered pocket on the front, but it all went horribly wrong so I had to abandon the idea and go for this much simpler version instead!
Finally, my first ever Necessary Clutch Wallet (yet another project that I had been wanting to make for a long while!) - I am so pleased with how well this one turned out and I can easily see why it has become so very popular with bag makers everywhere! The fantastic pattern for this clutch is by Emmaline Bags. The fabric is from Tim Holtz again, but this time from the Correspondence collection.
That's it for now! Next up on the list-of-things-to-make is a custom order for another Necessary Clutch. The customer has asked me to make it in this fantastic Birch Farm fabric from Joel Dewberry - great choice don't you think?!
